REIKI WORK

Reiki (ray-key) means ‘universal life force’ and is a natural system of energy healing that was developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the 20th Century, but with its roots in the practise of Seichem (Say-keem) one of the healing arts used in ancient Egypt.

Reiki has no association with a particular religion or faith and can be received by anyone who is willing to be healed.

Through physical injury or emotional pain our body’s energy field can become blocked. Reiki involves the use of palm healing with the intention to guide the body’s flow of energy throughout the body to promote healing and reduce stress. It is an increasingly widely used practise and can help the body restore balance and harmony.

Benefits include promotion of relaxation, reduction of stress and anxiety, boosting of the immune system, improving sleep, and soothing pain and tension in the body. It is increasingly widely used in the NHS to promote and speed up healing in patients after surgery or illness. There are no contra indications to reiki and it is a completely safe treatment.

GUA SHA

Gua sha is a traditional Chinese healing method using a smooth-edged tool to stroke the skin, whilst pressing on it.  These strokes stimulate the body’s blood flow and circulation and address stagnant energy in the body that causes inflammation.  By rubbing the skin’s surface this stagnant energy is broken up so it can be released from the body and this in turn helps to reduce inflammation and pain.

Studies have shown that Gua sha helps with a wide range of symptoms including perimenopausal symptoms, neck and back pain, muscle, joint and tendon pain and migraines. It also helps to promote blood circulation and lymphatic drainage.

The treatment may raise small red rash like dots on the body that show under the skin however this subsides within a couple of days and just signifies where the blocks have been in the body’s flow. The skin maybe a little tender in these areas but again this subsides quickly.
